There She Is…

Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen 2016 Heather King

There She Learns…

Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen Heather King is in her senior year of high school in Frisco, TX where she is involved in her school in several different areas.  She has a passion for singing and is a competition solo and ensemble medalist winner with her choral group, Vibe, which is a hand selected singing group. Heather’s talent has served her well and she was cast as the lead in her junior and senior year of her high school’s theater productions of “High School Musical” and “Annie”. Heather also serves on the Student Council and she was thrilled to be voted as the 2016 Homecoming Queen.  Post-graduation, Heather’s plan is to obtain a degree in Journalism, primarily focused on fashion. She also plans to continue with her passion for singing and theater.

Heather was a top finalist in the 2016 Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant held in Orlando, FL and placed 7th overall. She also won The Spirit of America award, which is a contestant voted choice award. The scholarship money she has earned from the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen and Miss Texas’ organizations will help Heather to further her educational goals.  The Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Inc. has been organized to encourage positive achievement by helping to nurture and build the scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living, and community involvement of our nation’s youth. Miss America’s Outstanding Teen (MAOTeen), the “little sister” to the Miss America Organization, is rapidly becoming a leader in college scholarships for exceptional high school teens who participate in local, state, and national competitions.

There She Serves…

The Miss America’s Outstanding Teen state and local titleholders volunteer thousands of hours with local, state, and national organizations such as the Special Olympics, Operation Care International and Citywide Club’s Annual Big Feast for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Miss America organization also has a long standing relationship with The Children’s Miracle Network, a nonprofit organization that saves and improves the lives of children. National, State, and local titleholders are able to visit children’s hospitals within the children’s miracle network because of this long standing relationship.

There She Advocates…

Power of Words is Heather’s personal platform. It is a calling by which she helps to solve so many of youth’s problems with regards to their body image, bullying, low self-esteem and entitlement. Through her platform, Heather helps others understand the words we think and speak have the power to direct our journey, no matter what age or station in life we hold. As an aspiring journalist, published author and budding videographer, Heather has already impacted many through her video clips, blogs and social media posts which draw attention to how powerful words can be. Through selling inspirational messages Heather paints on canvases, she has been successful in raising funds which are donated to support the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Heather has been able to impact, reach and speak to hundreds of students across the state all with a purpose to create a shift in the hearts and minds of everyone she meets regarding the power of words. By inspiring and encouraging others to begin a ripple effect of kindness through their language and their actions, along with sharing their time and talents in the community, Heather believes together we can change our world. Follow her journey as Heather continues her campaign and inspires others on how when spoken, the potency of one’s words brings about an affect.
